Position Summary: The Engagement Specialist is primarily responsible for coordinating support services and case management to youth and their families.  The position provides for the coordination of services, oversight, and leadership along with acting as the liaison of service options for youth and their families. 


Position Qualifications: 

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mental Health, Psychology, Education, Counseling, Child Development/Child Care or Social Work with a minimum of two years' experience in related services or 5 years' relevant work experience. 
  • Planning and time management and strong organizational skills. 
  • A valid driver's license along with access to a vehicle. 
  • Management of work processes along with strong computer skills for documentation purposes. 
  • Ability to main confidential information within HIPAA guidelines and organizational policies. 
  • Ability to be flexible especially with scheduling and site locations and to perform and prioritize multiple functions and tasks. 
  • Communication along with professionalism. 
  • Support the organization's mission along with sensitivity of cultural and workplace 
  • harmony. 
  • 33/34/FBI clearances 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Implements and maintains the agency's mission, vision, and values in all facets of performance. 
  • Promotes and emphasizes the client and family-centered team approach, ensuring that all recorded service plans are individualized and strengths based. 
  • Provides leadership and support in the development and implementation of a positive environment appropriate to at risk population, according to individual client needs, agency policies, and external requirements. 
  • Role models and promotes healthy professional relationships between staff and clients, families, and community service providers. 
  • Provides and oversees the provision of accurate, strength-based, and culturally competent assessments of clients and families (when applicable) within prescribed timeframes and throughout the client's service involvement. 
  • Works within a client-centered team framework to ensure that clients are connected to services of choice, with emphasis on individualism, strengths and community involvement. 
  • Prioritizes the engagement of clients, families and family support systems/services (when applicable).   
  • Acts in the role of advocate, liaison, and coordinator of all service components including family (when applicable), natural community supports, and contacts. 
  • Promotes professionally healthy service collaborations with community providers. 
  • Provides and responsible for timely, accurate, and professionally written documentation of all service components. 
  • Maintains client records in accordance with state regulations and contractual requirements. 
  • Is required to comply with all licensing regulations, contractual requirements, accreditation standards, and agency policies and procedures related to behavior, supports, documentation, and management. 
  • Coordinates and/or provides transportation (when applicable) for external appointments and court hearings in accordance with agency policies and legal mandates. 
  • Attend all meetings, supervisions and trainings as required including procedures, Practices and documentation involving use of emergency measures, Restrictive procedures and alternatives to coercive treatment of consumers.

Working Conditions:

  • Work the hours necessary to complete the work.
  • Work is completed within the office or out in the residential site's other community and provider agencies.
  • Must be able to travel to the various office locations.
  • Will need to be able to implement elements of Safe Crisis Management.
  • Positions are located in a variety of community-based settings.
  • Work with clients who have complex needs, including but not limited to: mental health; alcohol and other drugs; communicable diseases; verbal and physical aggression.
  • Requires visits to clients' homes, schools and supportive services within the community.
  • Ability to lift and carry light boxes of files and supplies (less than 10 pounds) on occasion.
