Certified Medical Assistant

Overview: The Certified Medical Assistant provides comprehensive health care services to designated clients, working collaboratively with contracted and referring physicians and other physical health providers.

This is a part-time role, wage range: $22-$30/hour. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete intake assessments, individualized treatment planning and ongoing clinical assessment to evaluate progress and other treatment needs.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
  • Participates in the care of patients as an active part of the treatment team and works under the supervision of the physician/CRNP.
  • Assists in completing prior authorizations for medications to be approved and covered by the patient's insurance.
  • Under the supervision of the physician/CRNP, communicates with clients (parents/guardians of clients who are minors) to discuss treatment, side effects, laboratory results, medication refills, or other clinical concerns.
  • Under the supervision/direction of the physician/CRNP administers medications as needed.
  • Upon receiving direct verbal orders or written orders from the physician/CRNP, assists in transferring orders to the pharmacy.
  • Evaluates vital signs, height, weight and waist circumference as part of a patient's evaluation and ongoing treatment planning.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Under the supervision of the physician/CRNP, assists in coordinating care with other behavioral health or medical providers.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation of patient treatments, discussions and laboratory results according to standard medical recordkeeping.
  • Maintains all agency equipment and supplies as necessary.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the dynamics of persons and/or families living with mental health and substance use.
  • Understanding of therapeutic interventions and resources for complex trauma, substance use and mental health
  • Have a demonstrated understanding of adolescent growth and development.
  • Attends supervision, training and meetings as directed.

Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistant required
  • Work with youth, adolescents and families strongly preferred.
  • A valid driver's license along with access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, privacy laws and regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of DSM 5- TR.
  • Possess and communicate a passion for Familylinks mission, vision and values.
  • Remain well-informed with MCO, County, State, and Federal policies and procedures.
  • Time management and strong organizational skills helpful.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, computer/laptop, tablet and cell phone required.
  • Other duties to be performed as needed within the department.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Working Conditions

  • Work is primarily within an office-based setting with attendance at external meetings, committees and conferences required at times.
  • Schedule may require flexibility which can include evenings and weekends.
  • May be in direct contact with individuals and/or families with mental health, substance use and/or communicable diseases.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds
  • May do pushing, pulling, standing and walking (1-3 hours)
